Description
The GARS-3 is one of the most popular measures in the field of evaluating Autism Spectrum Disorder and helps professionals identify autism in an individual and evaluate its severity. New with this edition is alignment with DSM-5, and the addition of 44 items. The instrument consists of 56 items based on DSM-5 diagnostic criteria and is organized into six subscales:
Restrictive/Repetitive BehaviorsSocial InteractionSocial CommunicationEmotional ResponsesCognitive StyleMaladaptive Speech
The instrument was normed on a nationally representative sample of 1,859 individuals.
Administration and Scoring
The GARS-3 takes only 510 minutes to administer. Results are expressed as standard scores, percentile ranks, severity level, and probability that the individual does have autism.
