Description The BRIEFA captures views of an adults executive function and self-regulation in everyday environments, through both a self-report and an informant report. Results can provide insight into attention disorders, learning disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, traumatic brain injury, and other disorders. The questionnaire covers nine discrete scales: Inhibit, Self-Monitor, Plan/Organize, Shift, Initiate, Task Monitor, Emotional Control, Working Memory, and Organization of Materials.
The BRIEFA was normed on a nationally representative sample of 1,136 adults, including various diagnostic groups.
Administration and Scoring Administration takes 1015 minutes, and scoring takes 1520 minutes. Two broad indexes are derived (Behavioral Regulation and Metacognition), along with an overall score and three validity scales (Negativity, Inconsistency, and Infrequency).
