- Qualification Level B
The Wide Range Achievement Test is an effective and popular tool to assess reading, spelling, and arithmetic skills. The WRAT-4 now contains a Sentence Comprehension subtest. along with grade-based norms in Grades K-12, and age-based norms extend to age 94 years, allowing for standardized assessment of older adults literacy skills.
The Blue and Green forms can be used interchangeably with comparable results, permitting retesting within short periods of time without practice effects. Alternate forms can also be combined into a single examination for a more qualitative assessment of academic skills.
Standardized on a representative national sample of over 3,000 individuals ranging in age from 5 to 94 years, the WRAT-4 has been shown to be highly reliable and valid.
The WRAT-4 is comprised of four subtests:
- Sentence Comprehension (reading comprehension)
- Word Reading (recognizing and naming letters, pronouncing printed words)
- Spelling (writing name; writing letters and words from dictation)
- Arithmetic (counting, reading number symbols, oral and written computation)
Administration and Scoring
Administration time is about 15 minutes for one subtest, 45-60 minutes for all four, depending on the age of the examinee. The WRAT-4 provides standard scores and percentile ranks by both age and grade, based on a nationally stratified sample.
Two equivalent alternate test forms (Blue and Green) are provided for pre- and post-testing.
NOTICE: The WRAT-4 is currently in revision. ATP will not be offering the WRAT-5.
WRAT-4 components will be available for a limited time, and are non–returnable.
